Moonshine Harley-Davidson: How They Secretly Boost Horsepower
Moonshine Harley-Davidson’s Jamie Lima pulls back the curtain on their performance division, Moonshine Horsepower, and show us how they boost motorcycle horsepower for everyday riders as well as the monster builds for the track.
Moonshine’s needs are different than the typical small block engine build because the cylinder spigots they’re working on aren’t supported by the engine case so they’ll move when they’re being honed. Rottler was able to help them solve that problem with our H85AX automatic hone. We also got them the stones they needed to get the ideal surface finish even when they’re working on difficult metals like tool steel and ductile iron.
In addition to the hone, Moonshine also has a Rottler S85A CNC automatic surfacing machine. Both of these can be setup to run a job and then the operator can walk away and do something else knowing the end results will be perfect. This saves them hours of manual work and lets them produce a better product.
The guys at Moonshine Horsepower are always looking for an advantage when it comes to industry-leading motorcycle performance and we’re happy to say that Rottler is part of their solution.
