Baldwin Racing Engines: Dirt Track and Derby Champions

April 24, 2025

On this episode of Rottler Featured Series, join us in Friedheim, Missouri with Jeff Baldwin of Baldwin Racing Engines.

Baldwin Racing Engines opened back in 2002 as an automotive repair shop but quickly evolved in a full-service automotive and competition machine shop that works on everything from Japanese mini trucks up to Cat C15s and Cummins ISX engines.

Their entry into the performance engine world began back in 2003-04, but really opened up in 2005 when he built the championship-winning engines for Mark Todd for three years in a row. Since then, they've built a name for themselves in LS late model dirt track and derby engines winning multiple championships for drivers like Scott Bloomquist and Nick Hoffman.

Baldwin credits a lot of his success to the specialty machining services — blueprinting cam tunnels, lifter bores, surfacing, and other high precision work they do with their Rottler equipment, which includes the H85AX automatic hone and an F60 series multi-purpose machining center. He notes that the Rottler machines give them the ability to refine surface finish, the key to ring seal and drawing every ounce of power out of the engine they can. A big difference, especially in the two-barrel restricted engines where the rules strictly limit what they're allowed to do.

Over the past two decades Baldwin Racing Engines has earned an unmatched reputation for engines that win championships, and we're pleased that Rottler is there to help with the best equipment and technology the industry has to offer.
