We head up to Tonawanda, New York to visit Don Bidell at Northeast Machine, a family run engine shop that’s been around for more than 50 years.

Northeast started out building and racing hydroplanes (which they still do) but these days their main business is building industrial diesel and military engines.

Restoring heavy duty diesel motors like Perkins industrial engines and Continental 1790 V12s (used in armored vehicles and tanks) to a like-new condition is a lot of work, which is why Northeast depends on Rottler machinery to pick up the load.

Bidel took us on a shop tour where we got to see his suite of Rottlers including the H85AX hone, a couple of S86 dry milling surfacers, a VR12 valve refacer, and an F10A CNC machining center.

Northeast credit their Rottler equipment for delivering precision, huge time savings, and the highest quality product and engine builder can deliver — whether that’s a self-propelled howitzer, or a racing boat.
